Why The Scale Isn’t The Best Option
I’m just starting my fitness journey and I am definitely learning that the scale is not my friend! If you are constantly weighing yourself and getting upset or depressed because the number isn’t changing in the direction that you want it to, STOP! Stop getting on the scale and stop letting it run your life. You will never enjoy a healthy lifestyle if you’re letting the scale tell you how to feel. Break up with the scale and it will help so much with your fitness journey.
Health is More Than A Number
Our weight flucuates all day, every day, and the scale is not an accurate measurement because it does not measure our water retention along with many other factors. Scales do not measure body mass, this means that it is not telling us if we have fat or muscle on our bodies. A scale can be a major setback when you are on a fitness journey, it can trigger emotional eating and self-doubt. Don’t let the scale dictate your self worth. I know that I weigh myself once a week, just to get an idea of what is going on, but I also check my body mass index (BMI), my body water, my body fat, as well as some other fun things, with a scale that I purchased from Amazon that is pretty similar to this.
What To Do Without A Scale
Instead of stepping on the scale every morning, I recommend taking progress pictures throughout your journey. You may not think that your body is changing because the scale has been telling you otherwise, but if you are making healthy choices in the kitchen, adding exercise to your daily routine and staying hydrated, I’m willing to bet that your body is changing for the better. Believe in yourself and the process of your fitness journey. I’d love to hear from you about your journey, contact me.
